Allgäu Online_März2016[:en]Today, the German newspaper “Allgäuer Zeitung” published an interview with Anastacia, in which she is talking about her music, her battle against breast cancer and her concert in Kempten. Read the translation here:

“You have to grab life by the horns“
The US pop singer is talking about her music and her battle against cancer. Soon she will be singing in Kempten

Anastacia is returning back to stage. The US American singer who has fought against cancer twice, is touring in order to “celebrate the ultimate collection of my music during the last years”. Before her concert in the Big Box Kempten on the 17th April we talked to the 47 year old about ups and downs in her career and her battle against cancer.

Anastacia, you are considered a positive thinking and strongly fighting woman. Your new song “Take this Chance” is about letting go and giving up control. Is this a new way for you to bounce back and to cope with failures?

Anastacia: I think life is about chances. I’ve taken these chances – the good ones, the bad ones. The most important thing is to accept chances and to live life to its fullest. I want to inspire my fans to do the same, to grab life by the horns and live it the way they want to. Of course that’s easier said than done, but I’m doing my best to be a positive role model for my fans and to show them not to fear anything. Life is here to be lived and I want to go on like that – in 2016 and during all those years that are about to come.

What can the audience expect from your concert in Kempten?

Anastacia: I can only say: The “Ultimate Collection Tour” will be a party with all my greatest hits and a few surprises for my fans. But I promise that we will play some songs that have never been performed before and that some old favorites will be presented in a completely new look.

The topic is “The Ultimate Collection”. Is it already time for you to take stock?

Anastacia: For me this tour is definitely a step forward. We invested a lot of time in order to create an amazing show. There have been a lot of different phases in my music and “The Ultimate Collection” is the ideal album to present all the different facets of it. I want to remain true to my classic “sprock sound” with Soul, Pop and Rock.

You have a strong rock and soul voice that is very unique in modern pop music. Are you a natural talent or does your voice need daily exercise?

Anastacia: I am one of those absolutely lucky devils who have never trained their voice and who do not have to warm up before singing. In the past I’d thought everyone was able to sing like I do. Only by the age of twenty did I notice that I could earn my living with it. When I am on tour I’m singing so much on stage – so I like to take care of my voice during the days so that it is strong and well rested for the next concert evening.

In your homeland America you’ve never made the breakthrough. Do you still hope you will succeed one day?

Anastacia: Of course I hope to be able to bring my show to America during the next years. I do have a fan base there that would be glad if I finally performed in the US. But because of you in Europe I am fully occupied so that I barely have time for the states.

You’ve already shared the stage with Elton John. Apart from his love for the daily change of glasses – has he been an idol for you?

Anastacia: Yeah – he is my inspiration for everything about glasses! Elton has supported me from day one. He has not only been a style icon and an incredible artist, but also a true friend over all these years at the beginning of my career.

Does the resurgence of your breast cancer and the cancellation of your tour in 2013 have an impact on your current tour?

Anastacia: I am just happy to be healthy and vivid back on stage! The second round with cancer was of course a tough time for me. I am really pleased with my mastectomy, which means that I could fight to come back and I hope the word “cancer” will no longer play a role in my life.

How do you find the strength to get back up and to go on stage after serious setbacks? What are your sources?

Anastacia: My fans, friends and family are my supporting network during hard times. When I come back on stage and a crowd of people is singing my songs with so much passion, it is giving me the power for everything! Without my incredible fans I wouldn’t be where I am today and every day I am truly grateful to them.

What are you afraid of?

Anastacia: I try not to fear anything. Cancer has been the bogey of my life, and to get out of that has given me such a love of life that I try not to be afraid of anything ever again. Of course there are things in life that are frightening us, but I’m striving for a positive attitude in everything I do and I try to tackle things with an anxiety-free basic attitude. And I hope I can encourage my fans to do the same.[:it]Oggi, il giornale tedesco “Allgäuer Zeitung” ha pubblicato un’intervista ad Anastacia, all’intero della quale ha parlato sia di musica, che della battaglia contro il cancro, e il concerto a Kempeten.
